Vietnam Memorial

Just a couple of miles north of Angel Fire (west of the airport), the Vietnam Memorial is nothing short of amazing.  If you've seen "The Wall" in D. C. and were disappointed, this one will not do so.

 

The builder of the memorial (deceased) bought this land to build a country club.  When his son was killed in an ambush in Vietnam, he sold the remaining land and built the memorial with the money.

 

There are exhibits on the grounds, a chapel, and a visitor's center.  The visitor's center includes photographs, displays, and a movie on the war.

 

If you respect the heroes of the Vietnam war as much as we do, it's a must-see.

Huey was used in Vietnam, shot up, returned to U. S. for repair, and sent back.
